We attended the AACA Fall Meet at Hershey and it was probably the best weather week ever for that event. Gasoline was relatively inexpensive ($2.19/gal out that way), but there were many empty spaces. Not sure why. The ride out and back was beautiful – leaves were so colorful. We always go the route 22 way and stop at mom and pop diners. This year, it was Topp's Diner, near the Swigart Auto Museum. Jim Schultze and Donna Kovar also attended and we had a Kit-Han-Ne Region courtesy tent between our 'storefronts' – we had a table and chairs and we had many visitors sit a while and rest.
Saturday, October 17th, is our 'roundabout' cruise to the Rockville church Fall Festival. We'll travel east, on 422, to Yarnick's Farm Market just beyond Shelocta and then we'll return on 422 to Cherry Run and up over the hill to Rockville church. All roads are paved or 'surfaced' – no dirt roads to run. We meet at the Cadet before noon and depart promptly at noon and we'll try to get to the church during the afternoon, somewhere between lunch and dinnertime – guessing around 3PM. The church has homemade soups, hot sandwiches, pies and ice cream. You can also buy 'food-to-go', even soup in mason jars – all that the members ask is that you return the jars at some point – I can handle that as the collection person for the club. It is supposed to be a cold weekend, so bundle up, come along and enjoy some good hot soup and sandwiches. Hope to see you there.
The slate of officers for 2016 is: president – Bobbi Jensen, vice president – Roy Williamson, Treasurer – Bobbi Williamson, secretary – Marcia Williamson, webmaster – Bill Johnson, and legislative liason – Jorn Jensen. The slate of officers will be voted upon at the October 28th club meeting at Cabin Greens golf course dining room.
All 2016 Kit-Han-Ne $10 dues MUST BE PAID by November 15th in order to get your 2016 AACA membership. Please take care of this task as soon as possible – it makes Bobbi Williamson's work a lot easier as dues come in early or on-time. Bobbi Williamson's address is 302 Cherry Tree Lane, Kittanning, PA 16201. Thank you.
Our fall banquet is Saturday, November 7th . Social hour is is 5 to 6PM, dinner at 6PM, $15 adults, $5 children 8 and under, cost includes tax and gratuity. Your reservation and payment is due to Bobbi Williamson, treasurer, by Friday, October 30th. Family and friends are welcome.
Sunday, November 15th, is the Tara, Kraynaks, Daffins trip. Brunch at Tara is $20.95 adults, $16.95 senior citizens, and $12.95 children under 12, toddlers and babies free. Tax and gratuity is additional. We depart the Worthington Volunteer Fire Department parking lot at 9AM and head north for the day.
We have received our 4 free national memberships applications. Let me know if you have a friend who may want to join. The $10 local club dues still applies, but national membership includes 4 great magazines per year and access to many AACA features.
Our next club meeting is Wednesday, October 28th at Cabin Greens golf course. Dinner 6PM, meeting at 7PM. See you there.
